The "Exercise takes care of you" (hereinafter ETC), consists of a physical activity program aimed at people over 55 years of age. Its purpose is to provide the target population with a service based on physical exercise, articulated in three weekly sessions lasting 60 minutes, in order to improve or preserve the different components that intervene in healthy physical condition, with the aim of contribute to the promotion of health and prevention of situations of dependency; improve healthy lifestyles and expand community resources to support health and social service systems.It is a program developed and coordinated by the Youth and Sports Foundation. The Primary Care Centers, the Senior Centers of the socio-sanitary network of the Extremadura Health Service (SES) and the Extremadura Service for the Promotion of Autonomy and Attention to Dependency (SEPAD) of the Board of Extremadura and the City Councils intervene. .Currently, the program is developed throughout the Extremaduran geography, specifically in 114 localities where it challenges sedentary lifestyle, betting on physical exercise, as the best medicine to «rejuvenate and improve the quality of life and health of the 5610 users who benefit today of their participation in the ETC program. The program is developed entirely by 27 physical trainers for health promotion, all of them graduates / graduates in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, who are spread over 27 areas, where the different locations that are currently grouped are grouped receiving the provision of the service.The program is characterized by:The application of multicomponent physical exercise adapted to the elderly, through 3 weekly sessions lasting 60 minutes.Carrying out physical exercise sessions in specific fragility groups in the centers of direct management of the Extremadura Service for the Promotion of Autonomy and Attention to Dependency (SEPAD), 3 weekly sessions of 60 minutes.The evaluation of the physical condition and quality of life of program users.The holding of events to promote health and quality of life (healthy breakfast, healthy marches, workshops and talks to improve healthy habits).Counseling in the practice of physical activity in the localities where the program is implemented, thanks to the knowledge of the sports offer in the locality and through the offices of attention to the practice of physical exercise.
